Personality: The first thing that sticks out about Ringabel is his love of women. In his very first scene we see him flirting at a bar, calm and casual as he tries to find his so-called Angel of Fate. Ringabel prides himself as a gentleman, but whether or not he succeeds depends on your perspective. On one hand, he is a shameless flirt. Shameless enough to ask an old woman like Grandship's proprietress if she'd like to go on a starlit stroll. Shameless enough to give flowery compliments to a married woman and shameless enough to suggest that his friend Agnès wear sexy clothing even when she's clearly uncomfortable.

He dates many woman quite casually, often makes lighthearted comments about feral bikini women, leaving a trail of ex-lovers in the sand, and the importance of sex appeal. Friends like Edea openly comment about his philandering ways. And indeed, at times he's downright incorrigible. While well-meaning, Ringabel's occasionally lacking in tact. He thinks he's smooth and romantic, but often times his advances lead to rebuffs, some verbal, and others physical. Just ask Konoe Kikyo.

With all this in mind, you'd think he's scum, someone who sees women as objects. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. During a sidequest in Chapter 2, Ringabel reprimands a character named Fiore DeRosa for his manipulation of women, sticking up for his friends and showing a great deal of concern for Edea, whom he'd taken as captive. Indeed, while he often expresses it in rather tactless ways, Ringabel has a great deal of adoration and respect for women. He's the sort who will hold the door for a lady, carry all her bags after a lengthy shopping trip, act as both sword and shield, and sing endless praises. This isn't limited to women of dating age, either, as he openly compliments two little girls from Florem during yet another sidequest, likening them to young nymphs and offers to defend even Airy, a cryst fairy, when Grandship begins sinking.

If anything, dates, flirting, and romance are simply enjoyable to him, and many of his quips bring a lighthearted air to otherwise serious situations. He's a romantic at heart, and when he sees the spark between Tiz and Agnès, he's quick to comment on it, albeit in the form of teasing.

This isn't to say that he's always flamboyantly flirting. On the contrary, Ringabel knows when to hold his tongue, and of the main party, he's arguably the most perceptive, often stopping to think, observe, watch, and listen. Many times when monsters rear their ugly heads, Ringabel is the first to notice. When his friends, specifically Tiz, show distress, he catches on like a hawk honing in on its prey, offering words of wisdom one would hardly expect if they saw him in his more flirtatious mindset. He's also quite level headed, thinking and analyzing a situation quietly, with occasional "hmms" before he weighs in on more puzzling subjects.

The fact that he possesses the highest intelligent stat of the main party speaks volumes. Throughout the journey, he keeps a journal, recording every last detail, from profiles on the people they meet, to a bestiary of all the monsters they encounter, Ringabel has a keen eye for detail and curiosity to match. One of the strongest examples that springs to mind is the moment after the group saved Grandship, where he noticed a flashing light and decided to play with the controls, causing the ship to take flight. If something appears suspicious, he'll go ahead and investigate, even if doing so is a touch risky. That said, he doesn't jump to outlandish conclusions as shown by the way he handles Airy later in the game, probing her for answers, and only bringing her true nature up with Tiz once he's connected the dots and regained the memories he'd previously lost.

For you see, Ringabel is an amnesiac. Having lost all memories of his former life, he was forced to start anew, with only his journal as his guide. This meant building a brand new persona, freed from the burdens of his life as Alternis Dim.

Prior to losing his memory, he was a Dark Knight, fueled by hatred and a fierce dedication to the Grand Marshal of Eternia and his daughter, Edea. Having been abandoned as a child and living on the streets left him cold, aloof, and jaded, and it was through the Lees that he got a new lease on life. But even then, he was very unlike Ringabel, keeping his heart behind tight locks, seldom reaching out to form friendships and seldom showing his face. Worse, in his last moments of Alternis, he watched his beloved Edea as well as Tiz and Agnès die before his eyes, too paralyzed by fear to save them.

His amnesia wiped all the guilt, all the rage, and all the sorrow away, leaving Ringabel a blank slate. As such, he's much more open than Alternis, socializing, forming bonds, generally making a dork of himself even when he tries to act suave. Generally speaking, Ringabel is a very cheery individual. A glass half full sort who yearns for the romance of adventure and the chance to see the world for himself and, with luck, uncover the secrets of his past. He's highly obsessed with maintaining a proper appearance, commenting in a party chat how a proper pompadour is a joy and a responsibility, stating that his shoes and belt must match, and admiring Sage Yulyana's countless dresses for women.

He's courageous and will steadfastly defend all he cares about. He's not afraid to ask questions, and he's more than willing to lend an ear when his friends are in pain. Yet, at the same time, Ringabel does still internalize a fair bit.

When he experiences distress, he tends to bury it. Lock it up tight and occasionally shift the subject onto something more lighthearted or dance around the core of his problems. While at this point in the game, his insecurities and old ghosts haven't quite come back to haunt him, but he has seen the face of world 5's Alternis, leaving him a touch uneasy. When asked about it in the next chapter, he opts not to comment on it, showing that he can be downright evasive. When his memories do return, it takes a while for him to admit the cause of his pain, and by that point he confides in Tiz, whom by that point he'd formed an almost brotherly attachment to and a great deal of trust as well. This shows that Ringabel can open up under the right pretenses, but it takes someone very close to him for him to spill his emotions.

Moreover, his image song, Love's Vagrant provides a look into Ringabel's psyche and reveals that he's both confused and uncertain about his identity due to his amnesia. He may flirt around and enjoy himself, but at heart, it's just not the same as the love he feels for Edea. On a subconscious level, he feels as though he failed to protect something, even though he doesn't know what, and wonders if perhaps he's seeking atonement. Add that to the fact that he's just seen Alternis Dim's face, and you're left with someone confused and conflicted, even if the memories have yet to fully return.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Ringabel is highly intelligent, observant, and intuitive. He reads people well, keeps detailed notes, and is also quite clever.

- Ringabel is often tactless around women, not realizing that his comments often come out borderline offensive.

+ Ringabel is very friendly, social, and a loyal friend and possesses strong morals and ethics.

- Ringabel's tendency to bury his more negative feelings causes more harm than help, even if it usually doesn't show. He also has a habit of pushing doubts aside, such as his refusal to speak of his similarities to Alternis after initially seeing his face.

+ He's level headed and seldom riled, able to remain calm even when riding a crashing aircraft and taking the helm based on gut instinct alone.

- However, he's very easy to fluster under the right circumstances. When Edea seemingly returns his affections and asks where he'd take her on a date, he stammers and flushes and ultimately shows that he has trouble taking back what he dishes out. Threatening, insulting, or harming his friends is another way to break his otherwise calm demeanor.

+/- He has a tendency to focus on details and latch onto them, which can be beneficial but also a hindrance. On one hand, it's allowed him to, say, discover that a presumed corpse was really an assassin through repeatedly prodding her body, but on the other hand, there are times when he focuses on more superfluous things, like women and dates, even when there are bigger issues at hand, like awakening the crystals.

- This ties into the fact that his priorities are occasionally skewed, especially in the first half of the game. While he can and does buckle down for more serious moments, he can occasionally be a bit of an annoyance among friends and peers when he isn't being particularly serious.

- While he's quick on the uptake, highly social, and eager to learn and explore, he is still an amnesiac and, as such, had had to reconstruct his whole identity and learn on the fly. As such, certain aspects of social protocol are a bit lost on him, and there are some subjects he simply doesn't understand... like "technique" when dealing with women.

+ He's very agile, fit and a competent fighter, even if he'll be unarmed and without the asterisks in this world. His training as a Dark Knight has undoubtedly left him in peak physical condition, with strong muscle memory.

+/- He's adaptable and occasionally manipulative, though mostly wth his adversaries or when there's simply a need to obtain information, such as the location of, say, a certain mind-altering hair dye.

+ For all his faults, he's very reliable, loyal, and more than willing to talk others through their woes and lend a listening ear.

First Person Sample: [The feed clicks on to reveal a young man with a carefully groomed pompadour with a dazzling smile, beneath a lush blue sky and surrounded by trees, grass, and general wilderness. He could be on any route, really.

He greets viewers with a quick wave before speaking up.]

Good morning, everyone! My name is Ringabel, and it seems I'll be joining the rest of you on this "Pokémon journey."

[He chuckles.]

Yes, I've done a bit of reading. After all, I imagine you've all grown tired of the constant bombardment of questions from us newcomers. With that said, I do have two questions for you all.

First, have you seen anyone by the name of Edea, Tiz, or Agnès? I happen to have an image of them, in case you need a visual reference.

[He pulls out a black journal marked with a D, flipping to a page showing an illustration of his friends

He'll hold it over the camera for a few seconds before pulling the book away and tucking it back into his pocket.]

If not, then I've just one more question: What can you tell me about the women of this world?

Third Person Sample: This was not what he anticipated. Not in the least.

The last thing Ringabel recalled was flying Grandship into the Holy Pillar, the attack from Alternis Dim, and the grueling battle that followed. He witnessed his doppelganger's power firsthand, witnessed his fury and defiance. His desire to thwart their efforts at all costs. And, upon his defeat, Ringabel was right there as his helmet clattered down to the deck, revealing a face identical to his.

But what did it mean? He even had an identical journal, so there was no denying the connection.

Before he could obtain answers, however, he was pulled away from Grandship altogether, and when he awoke, he found himself in a cold, dark room. His eyes snapped open, and he flung himself to his feet, eyes darting around as he soaked in his surroundings. A small bed, a desk topped with an unusual red ball, a note on the pillow, a backpack on the floor...

Though his heart raced, he snatched up the letter immediately and gave it a quick perusal. Team Rocket? Uniform? Just what on Luxendarc was going on? He'd never heard of this time, and by now, he and his friends had traveled all across the world.

And his friends... just what had become of them? Of Grandship? Had they even made it through the pillar safely?

Any other man would have panicked. Indeed, Ringabel could already see images flashing before his mind of the ship spiraling into the sea, of his friends caught in the crash, injured or worse! There was no denying that there was a chance that something had gone terribly awry.

But there was also a chance that it hadn't. After all, here he was, alive and well and clearly unharmed. Perhaps his friends weren't too far behind.

And even if they weren't, recklessness wouldn't get him any closer to a solution.

So, exhaling slowly, he set the note down and placed the pack on the desk. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out both his and Alternis' journal, flipping through to ensure that he grabbed the right one.

The passages were eerily similar, but it didn't take long to spot the differences and from there, he turned to a blank page.

Wherever he was, and whatever awaited him, it certainly wouldn't hurt to keep a record. After all, it seemed he had quite the journey ahead of him.
